African Union leaders were heading home after a two day African union summit that was largely overshadowed by Zimbabwe's political crisis.
The summit, held in Egypt, adopted a resolution calling for a government of national unity in Zimbabwe, where President Robert Mugabe was re-elected unopposed last week. The presidential run-off was boycotted by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai because of violence against his supporters. The resolution comes amid mounting international calls for sanctions against Mugabe. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said on French television on Tuesday that the European Union would accept no Zimbabwean government other than one led by Mr Tsvangirai.
