Washington and Poland have reached a tentative deal to install a US missile defence system on Polish soil.
US officials said the pact still required final approval from Warsaw. Russia opposes the system saying it poses a direct threat to Russian security and act against its nuclear deterrents. Moscow has threatened to point missiles at Poland and the Czech Republic, both NATO allies, in the event of deployment. Poland's chief negotiator Witold Waszczykowski said the final offer had been delivered to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk for his decision.
