The German capital is preparing for the opening of the new US embassy at its historical residence near the Brandenburg Gate.
US President George W. Bush and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are among those attending the ceremony at which more than 4,000 guests are expected. The embassy's return to Pariser Platz comes 67 years after it was vacated when Nazi Germany declared war on the US. The ceremony is taking place on America's Independence Day.
