Freed Colombian hostage Ingrid Betancourt and members of her family have arrived in Paris.
The 46-year-old, who holds both Colombian and French citizenship, was given a hero's welcome and greeted on the runway by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. From the airport tarmac she thanked Sarkozy and the French people for enabling her release. Betancourt and 14 other hostages were rescued two days ago by Colombian army commandos posing as FARC guerrillas. She spent six years in captivity during which time she was tortured and fell seriously ill. Before leaving the Colombian capital Bogota for Paris, the former presidential candidate vowed to work tirelessly for the freedom of some 700 people believed to be still held by the FARC.
