Former Congolese Vice President Jean-Pierre Bemba has appeared for the first time at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

ICC seeks Congo's 'Terminator' ... and 2003. Bemba is the highest-profile suspect to date to be brought before the world's first permanent war crimes court, set up in 2002. He confirmed to the court that he had been informed of the charges against him but was not asked to enter a plea. A further court hearing planned for November will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for Bemba to face a trial.
