Hundreds of right-wing extremists have hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at a gay pride parade in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Police needed water cannon and tear gas to break up the neo-Nazi assailants.
45 people were arrested. Ambulance workers said at least eight people were hurt. Two prominent Hungarian politicians were attacked in the violence. Last week, far-right extremists disrupted gay pride parades in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, and in the Czech city of Brno.
