The project focuses on health inequalities and decreasing early death. In spite of the progress, however, the threat that man will die younger than 64 years is still higher in the Czech Republic than in the old 15 EU countries. In 2002, the risk threatened every fourth Czech man and every ninth Czech woman, compared with every sixth man and every 12th woman in the old EU 15. The situation was slightly better only in Slovenia than in the Czech Republic among the ten post-communist countries that joined the EU in 2004 and 2007. Human rights body criticises Czechs over Romanies, cage beds ... for women was 4 percent. Slovakia in second position scored a decrease of 8 percent for men and 4 percent for women. The decrease in the old EU 15 was an average of five percent for men and 2 percent for women. The average of the ten new post-communist states was four percent for men and more than 2 percent for women. In 1990, 731 men and 284 women per 100,000 died early, in 2002 the figures were 500 and 207, respectively.
