The euro is supported by less than a half of people also in Sweden and Poland. Support to the euro is lower than in the Czech Republic also in Greece and Denmark where only 51 percent of people are in favour of the single currency. Especially young people are in favour of the European monetary union in the Czech Republic as three-quarters of young Czechs support the euro. Education also plays great role as 61 percent of people who have a university degree support the euro compared with only 29 percent of Czechs with elementary education. Support to the euro adoption is strong among right-wing voters as two-thirds of them agree with the single currency, compared with only 42 percent of left-wing voters. Self-employed, managers and people with the so-called white-collar jobs also support the euro. Pavel Severa, the author of the Czech report on the poll, said it is possible opinions held by Czech President and euro adoption opponent Vaclav Klaus as well as other politicians with a similar outlook are behind the attitudes of the Czech public on the euro project.
