President Nicolas Sarkozy has honoured freed French-Colombian hostage Ingrid Betancourt with France's highest award, the Legion of Honour.
Betancourt, who spent six years in the hands of the FARC rebels of Colombia, was welcomed as a heroine in France after her release 10 days ago. She said she was counting on Sarkozy to help free the scores of other hostages believed to be held by FARC. The award was presented at the traditional Bastille Day celebrations in Paris.
