An audit of Cunek's finances, which Schwarzenberg had worked out this spring and whose result he received from the Kroll detective agency a week ago, showed that 700 pages from the criminal file concerning the police investigation of Cunek's suspected corruption are missing. Cunek, chairman of the junior ruling Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), was accused of corruption in spring 2007 but his prosecution was later halted under unusual circumstances with much of his financial deals remaining unclear. Schwarzenberg (for the Greens) then made his remaining in the government conditional on the favourable result of Cunek's family finances he would have worked out. Schwarzenberg told journalists today that the audit's outcome he has Czech press survey ...
Audit shows no reason to dismiss Czech Deputy PM Cunek - Bursik ... received now gives no reason for him to step down as foreign minister. "At first, the 700 pages must be found.
As I don't know their whereabouts, I can't set any deadline," Schwarzenberg said. He said he does not believe that Cunek had withheld 700 of his file's 4,000 pages to the Kroll auditors intentionally. Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek (Civic Democrats, ODS) said earlier today that he would not deal with the Cunek's audit result any more. He said the audit has not proved the suspicion that Cunek accepted a bribe as the mayor of Vsetin, north Moravia, in 2002.
