Girl killed in fresh Gaza clashes ... over five Hezbollah prisoners to Lebanon as part of a prisoner swap co-ordinated by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The five prisoners being freed include Samir Qantar, who has been in prison for almost thirty years for killing three Israelis, including a child, in a guerilla raid. Earlier, Israel confirmed that two bodies handed over by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah under the deal were those of Israeli soldiers captured in a cross-border raid in 2006. The abduction of the two soldiers sparked a month-long invasion of Lebanon by Israel that resulted in the deaths of over a thousand people, mostly Lebanese citizens. In return for the dead soldiers, Israel will also hand over almost 200 bodies of Hezbollah and Palestinian fighters. The Lebanese cabinet has declared today a national holiday.
