German Chancellor Angela Merkel is to hold a key speech at the party summit of her Bavarian coalition partner CSU in Nuremberg in a bid to fix a widening rift over tax policy.
The sister party of Merkel's CDU has sparked a nationwide debate over a potential increase of commuter tax allowance. The CSU has made the tax cut a campaign issue in upcoming parliamentary elections in Bavaria and the topic is expected to feature high on the summit's agenda.
