Ebadi calls on media to foster peace ... Manouchehr Mottaki has said a new round of talks scheduled for Saturday on his country's disputed nuclear programme is a positive development.
Talking to reporters in the Turkish capital Ankara, Mottaki also said that he hoped the outcome of the talks would reflect the optimism surrounding the new negotiation process, in which a US diplomat is set to participate for the first time. Earlier this week, Washington said Undersecretary of State Williams Burns would join EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and officials from Germany, Britain, France, Russia and China for the talks in Geneva. The US, which cut diplomatic ties with Iran shortly after its 1979 Islamic revolution, accuses Tehran of seeking to build nuclear bombs. Iran says its nuclear programme is solely aimed at producing electricity.
