20.07.2008 - Germany marks anniversary of 1944 plot to kill Hitler

Germany is holding a number of commemoration events for those who were executed after a failed bomb plot to kill Nazi leader Adolf Hitler 64 years ago.

The Czech Republic news are represented by www.prague-apartments-hotels.com

Colonel Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg planted a briefcase containing a bomb near Hitler during a meeting at his "Wolf's Lair" headquarters in eastern Prussia on July 20, 1944. The bomb went off, killing four men, but Hitler only suffered minor injuries. Stauffenberg and most of his co-conspirators were executed within days.
