British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has called on Israel to freeze settlement construction in occupied territories.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Bethlehem, Brown said settlement construction and terrorism were obstructing the Middle East peace process. US Sec. of State meets Palestinian President ... to the Palestinians. He also promised British support in developing housing, industrial parks and small businesses. Brown's two day-visit to Israel and the West Bank is his first since he took office a year ago. His talks with Israeli officials will include the Iranian nuclear programme and Israel's ongoing peace efforts with the Palestinians and Syria. Brown will wrap up his visit to Israel on Monday afternoon, after addressing the Knesset, the first British premier to do so.
