Playing cat-and-mouse with the Soviets to keep on air ... a chance to rock Europe
Czech Radio is proud to announce the winner of its music competition Czechs rock Europe, held in connection with the Czech Republic’s EU presidency.
The group Zrni placed top of the ladder out of 235 amateur rock bands that sent in entries. The selection process took place in two stages, first a Czech Radio jury selected a short-list of the ten best entries, which Czech Radio listeners were asked to judge in the course of April. Zrni won with an overall 829 votes.
The band will get to represent the Czech Republic at a rock concert in Berlin’s Kleisthaus on June 5th, 2009. They will give a concert in Prague, broadcast live by Czech Radio.
The event’s media partners are Rock&Pop magazine and the Czech Cultural Centre in Berlin.
Altogether 235 rock bands have sent in entries. The Czech Radio jury selected ten finalists whose compositions you are invited to judge.
