BBC Radio 2 has been named UK station of the year, beating its stable mate Radio 1 and Classic FM, at the annual Sony radio awards.
DJ of the year went to Danny Baker, of BBC London 94.9, at the London event.
Xfm was the most successful of the commercial stations, with DJ Christian O'Connell winning three awards.
Of the BBC's 22 gold awards, BBC Radio 1 won five, which included Zane Lowe winning music broadcaster of the year and the specialist music award.
Radio 2's win came after Radio Joint Audience Research figures last week showed the station is the most popular in the country, with 13.3 million listeners and a 16.5% audience share.
Lifetime achievement
Radio 2's second award of Monday night went to Jeremy Vine for speech broadcaster of the year.
Also at the awards, the UK radio industry's equivalent of the Oscars, Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright, 50, won a lifetime achievement gold award.
Radio 1 also won the news programme of the year, and the feature award.
The commercial sector won 12 gold medals, while the BBC picked up 22.
O'Connell took the competition award, and beat high profile names like Capital FM DJ Johnny Vaughan to breakfast show of the year, and Jonathan Ross on Radio 2 to the entertainment award.
A special award went to UK Radio Aid, an initiative which saw commercial stations link up to broadcast special programming in aid of the tsunami.
